The iPhone 5 and back again:
Now then, the iPhone hasn’t really changed a whole lot since 2010. That sweet stage in life when Apple decided to ditch that cheap plastic back in exchange for flush glass on the back and front. Although the iPhone 4 design did make my knees week some two years ago it has now got a little old. The back is scratched, the front is worse, it feeling sluggishly slow and the battery can almost make it to tea time. Apple cannot make us unhappy again. The next iPhone has to be fresh, revolutionary and lets face it magical. The iPhone 4S was realised to basically give Apple another year to allow their technology to reach mainstream. This is the year that Apple is going to nail it with the next iPhone (the iPhone 5).
The iOS Software:
Apple has a lovely ecosystem. All your devices speak to each other with ease. If you take a picture of your friend photobombing a cat being breaded it will be on your Apple TVs screensaver before you get in. This being said there are a few things that Apple needs to iron out. iMessage for example, I currently have different conversations going on with the same people due to the fact that Apple currently doesn’t differentiate between contacts having both email address’ and numbers This isn’t really a major set back but having little_bbz89xo@hotmail.co.uk pop up in your notifications does make you look like a bit of a loser. Apparently choosing the email address you signed up to Bebo with way back when was a pretty major decision.
Lets watch Maps on YouTube.
Well it looks like you will be doing neither due to a little disagreement that Apple had with rival company Google. Apple is coming up with a more elegant solution to maps but this may take sometime to mature. As for YouTube my guess is Apple’s placing its bets towards a partnershop with some major enemies of the YouTube service. Namely Hollywood.
iCloud
As my devices have warmed to the cloud I have found myself only plugging my iPhone into its connector when it needs power. This is currently about 7 times a day. The conventional 30-pin Apple usb cable is way too big. It takes up extremely engineering real-estate. Just think about a wireless world. Your iPhone 5 charges on a conductive plate that rests by your bed. You’ll never have to even look at the plug to see if your putting it in upside down or not. My prediction is that they will ditch the plug, or just go MagSafe as a compromise.
The iPhone 5:
All of this was brought on by some recently leaked renders of what the iPhone 5 may look like. If the iPhone looks like this I will firstly vomit all over the WWDC live stream. I will then goto the phone shop and pick myself up a phone that looks like it has a disabled robot as its mascot.
What i’m after is something to blow my mind. Super thin, ergonomic, well balanced something that makes me feel like im living in the future. When I was looking around the WWW (world wide web) today I came accross this little gem. Apple make it happen.
